a custom romantic Pied-de-Terre in a
small Manhattan space.
This couple desired a custom Pied-de-Terre for serene weekends away in Manhattan that could accommodate both intimate evenings alone, or entertaining a group of friends. The team of 3F Living began the quest to achieve a city haven, by first overseeing the demolition of all existing elements in the space including the kitchen and bathroom. After completion of this stage a full renovation began with freshly painted walls, refurbished hardwood floors, and the installation of a custom designed, built-in cabinetry collection.
One of the key custom built-in pieces is a recessed Murphy Bed that contains the entirety of the bedroom area. When the cabinet door is pulled down, it reveals a cozy and inviting niche, complete with warm lighting, a plush headboard, shelving and Egyptian hieroglyphic artwork hanging above the queen bed. This is ideal for a small Manhattan space. When the Murphy Bed has been stored away and the wall is upright, a drop leaf table extends outwards, allowing for a small seating area just big enough for two, to enjoy a meal any time of day.
This small dining area is the perfect extension to the charming custom kitchenette. The beautiful grains of the warm wood cabinetry are complimented with a full wall backsplash of sage green miniature tiles. Open glass shelving breaks up the solid mass of the upper cabinets while still allowing for functional storage. The brushed chrome hardware and appliances as well as the deep sage stone countertop are the perfect final touches to the kitchenette.
With the dining and sleeping areas of the studio so cleanly tucked away, the majority of the space is a bright and open living room complete with plump upholstery and hefty case pieces. The studio lends itself to the seclusion of a couple’s retreat just as easily as it provides for a gathering of good friends prior to a night out in the city. |
