a Kitchen with a pop of color

Splashes of orange accessories throughout, work well with the grey blue paint color on the kitchen walls. Instead of introducing a new color for the kitchen, the 3F Living Design Team decided to use the same paint color that was on the living room feature wall, this creates a seamless flow from room to room.

Bedroom with unique style

The bedroom is grounded by a West Elm area rug adding a sense of perspective to an otherwise confined space. Indigo patterned draperies and a copper framed mirror adds depth and texture.

A table from Design Within Reach is used in the bedroom to create open space while still supplying a muchneeded surface area. This console table also opens up to a 6person dining table, which is perfect for clients that like to entertain.

furnishing a one bedroom upper west side apartment.

This Upper West Side one bedroom residence, located across the street from Lincoln Center, thrives off of innovative and customized creations. Everyday finds from retail and designer resources have been taken from ordinary to the extraordinary just by updating them with personalized touches, and placing them in this distinctive setting.

As you enter the residence your eye is drawn to the full wall of windows framed by a custom valance and draped in a traditional pattern with modern hues of yellow and gold. Set in front of the window vista, is a cream sectional sofa accented by yellow and charcoal tones in plush velvet pillows. One noteworthy element of creative vision is the coffee table placed in front of the sofa, which actually is comprised of an outdoor footrest made of honed finish stone. The piece has been turned into a coffee table by adding a thick, custom sized glass tabletop. By creating this unique coffee table the family is able to relax comfortably and entertain within a small space. The one of a kind table is accompanied by two existing West Elm side chairs that have been reupholstered with a textural tone-on-tone beige fabric. Lighting the area is a floor lamp that was taken from its original retail design and improved upon by the addition of a customized lampshade. Completing the living room is a smooth, wooded media console that functionally hides storage behind its sliding metal face panel. By painting the TV wall a gray blue tone, it allows the console unit to boldly be shown off as a showcase piece. With the exception of this accent wall, the living space is surrounded by robin’s egg blue, the perfect contrasting compliment to the golden tones accentuating the area.

The bedroom continues the chromatic scape of the apartment, by introducing stormy indigo purple into the cooler elements of the palette. The room embraces these tones on two accent walls, directly next to the bed. The tones are then repeated in the lush draperies that are beaded with texture. The sleek white headboard of the bed is continued up the wall by a series of photographs in white frames, mix matched in shape and thoughtfully placed. By creating an extended headboard made out of framed family photos, it makes this small one bedroom feel bigger then it actually is. Finishing out the furnishings of the bedroom is a chrome based, deep wood top console table, perfect for showcasing a Jonathan Adler vase.

In addition to the two main spaces of the apartment, a small yet classic kitchen, an intimate dining area, and a charming office niche increase the program of the space. Set in a corner alongside the living area, an at home office is established by utilizing the wall space to create a 3F Living designed custom task board. The 3F living office task board is comprised of sections of magnetic milky white glass used for a marker board and recycled textured paper used for tackable space, all set within a thin metal frame. The yellow desk itself is slim in proportion and gracefully fills out the corner space; set below is a small filing system with just the right amount of storage. To bring in a charming rustic element, a metal-framed mirror is then situated above the desk.

The dining area brings back the yellow color in the custom designed bench for seating. The low bench allows for the Eames style table, to comfortably push back over top of it, opening up space in the floor plan when the dining area is not being used. Metal finishes that are repeated throughout the space are abundant, with the use of two wire frame chairs and three geometrical shaped candle lit sconces.

The kitchen repeats the colors of a Michael Graves teapot, first masking the walls in gray blue tones, then adding touches of tangerine in the countertop accessories, and finally by echoing the detail of stainless steel appliances and sleek brushed chrome cabinet pulls. The deep tone of the walls makes the white cabinetry of the kitchen pop with tenacity.

In all, this Upper West Side space exhibits the true excellence that comes from using one of a kind objects to personalize an environment. With an eye for innovation, typical furniture or accessory finds are brought into a higher level of design by 3F Living’s keen sense of creativity.
